Dr. Sumanta Rakshit is serving as the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT), Haldia, West Bengal. He has extensive academic and professional experience in the field of Civil Engineering and has been associated with HIT since 2023.
As Head of the Department, he is actively involved in academic planning, faculty coordination, student development, laboratory management, curriculum implementation, quality assurance, and industry–academia interaction. He emphasizes outcome-based education, practical learning, project-based activities, and professional skill development.
Under his leadership, the department focuses on modern laboratory facilities, industry interaction, field activities, structural and infrastructure-related projects, professional software training, interdisciplinary learning, and emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence in Civil Engineering.
Dr. Rakshit is committed to developing a student-centric, industry-oriented, and outcome-based academic environment that equips Civil Engineering graduates with strong technical knowledge, practical skills, innovation capabilities, and professional competencies.
